D · H · Lawrence is one of the greatest writers in the history of English literature. He has been given a tremendous attention for a long time, but at the same time he was also a controversial figure on the attitude towards sex specially. As a writer, Lawrence with his short life composed a serial of life songs of praise by using his human body which is full of energy. He regarded the intuition and the instinct as the key which can guard people of the industrial society toward the nature and the realization of the human nature. He lived in such a realistic society, where the soul and the body had been separated, as well as the beauty of humanity and nature had lacked. He struggled painfully, and then emerged the great aspiration of protecting the human's soul from his deep heart. He attempts to save the "splitting human" by using the harmonic relation of the soul and the body between the male and the female, who is under a dissimilated situation of modern industrial culture.Based on the bisexual relationship in his works, Lawrence exposed the state of alienation in modern cultivation of industrial society from the view of psychology and reality. In this situation, he put forward his ideality. Lawrence felt that it's libido from the heart and soul can liberate people from the era of present civilization. It can help people go into a new world, for a harmonious bisexual relationship without the fetter of modern civilization is an important premise for people to returnto their human nature and liberate their natural desire, as well as a workable method for them to go out of the difficult position and surmount the dissimilation. Only when the sex is treated in a natural way, and the burden of traditional moral has been shrugged off, can we enter into an ideal world of harmonious inter-sexual relationship.Lawrence' s many novels have embodied his endeavors to ideal bisexual relationship, which has been up to the depth and height of universe and space, becoming the main theme of his works. In his opinion, the division of humanity comes from the conflictions, which are between human and culture under the modern industrial civilization. The relationship between soul and body of the man and female becomes the main theme of his works. Though his contemporary did not accept his thoughts, it is possible to assess the importance of his deep impact on latter literature and arts. Though his contemporary did not accept his thoughts, it is impossible to assess the importance of his deep impact on latter literature and arts.By analyzing Sons and Lovers, the Rainbow and Lady Chatterley' s Lover, the dissertation interpreted the interrogation and the reconstruction of soul and body between the male and female. Three chapters are divided:Chapter One: The suspicion on humanity to the interrogation of soul and body is discussed. On one hand, we should know something about what Lawrence had experienced, such as the backgrounds of his family, his times, the social reality and the culture. All of them would have an impact on his writing. On the other hand, the anesthesia of beauty of humanity will be discussed. His many works have embodied the dissimilation of humanity and the rape of bisexual relationship, which showed the main theme of his works.Chapter Two: Based on the above three novels, the deep meaning in his works will be presented and the contradictions of the perfect union of soul and body will be showed. Firstly, the novel of Sons and Lovers isthe prelude of separation of soul and body. The novel described the journey of the hero Paul' s growing up, which also embodies his bitter struggle between soul and body. Secondly, The Rainbow, the companion volume of Women in Love, developed the main theme from the novel of Sons and Lovers. By showing us the relationship of marriage and love among three generations, it expressed the pursuit of the perfect union of soul and body. It is the impassioned volume of the union of soul and body. Thirdly, based on the above volumes, the novel of Lady Chatterley' s Lover carried out Lawrence' s harmonious bisexual ideality. It has carried on the summary to the former text. Through it, the writer attempts to construct the harmonious unification Republic of Plato between soul and body.Chapter Three: The integration of the relationship between soul and body is displayed in the questioning to human nature' s completion;the ideal but controversial word of the perfect union of body and soul is presented during the interrogation of humanity integration. In Lawrence' s opinion, the integration of humanity comes from the harmonious bisexual relationship. But the separation between soul and body would result in the wreck of love, and would lead to the shatter of love at last.In a whole, Lawrence attempted to readjust the relation between the male and female. In his works, Lawrence placed his everlasting hope between the both sexes that is an omni bearing and perfect combination. He thought that a healthy positive and real love can make dissimilated people come back to a dynamic people with a creative power. From sex, people can get liberation become healthy;England can escape from the dispirited situation, get the return of the human nature and the reappearance of the Eden of human society. Though such kind of hope is far away from us with a deep color of ideal, Lawrence' s value is not that if he poses some feasible program, but he pointed that the modern people must change their living method, situation and quality. This kind ofnarration itself is startling and making people awake. It can raise people' s rethink and suspicion to the capitalistic culture itself. This is an imagination of humanitarian ism and humanism with a great realistic meaning. It should be affirmed and researched deeply.
