| The Han nationality, ruled by the Liao Dynasty, was called "Hanren" in history. Theymainly lived in the You-Yun-16-cantons province (and the shortened form, "You-Yunprovince"), which was annexed into the Liao Dynasty. As the most development area in theLiao Dynasty, it also has intense problems of the "Hanren". The character and customs of the"Hanren" were influenced deeply by ethnic minorities because they lived together for a longtime. Hence, there have differences between the "Hanren" in You-Yun province and Hannationality in other areas. These "Hanren" in You-Yun province played an important role while the Liao Dynastyand the Jin Dynasty ruled the north of China. However, they were rejected and drew over bythe Liao Dynasty, Song Dynasty and the Jin Dynasty at the same time. For example, the LiaoDynasty made them loyal to it with imperial examinations, nominations and marriages, but itdistrusted most of "Hanren" and push them to the lowest social root as well. The SongDynasty discriminated "Hanren" and considered them as barbarians. And the Jin Dynasty puta few "Hanren" in key positions, meanwhile, rejected them of ruling class. On the other hand, the "Hanren" in You-Yun province were isolated from othernationalities and were not loyal to any dynasty only. They went to somewhere only foradvantages. They gave a hand to the Liao Dynasty to resist the Song Dynasty, moreover, betrayed the Song Dynasty to the Jin Dynasty that resulted in the war between the Jin andSong Dynasty. In view of this, the "Hanren" influenced the development of the Liao, Jin andSong Dynasty and the northern political structure of China.Above of all, the "Hanren" in You-Yun province developed into a special group in theextraordinary historical circumstance. |
