Positivism history which was formed in Germany in the nineteenth century and represented by L.Ranke was influenced by natural science then and there and inherited prior historians` excellenct traditions of paying attention to criticize historical data in the process of composition. All the famous Germanic universities of the day provided the space of exertion for the two impacts and spreaded the social influence of historical research. The formation of positivism history made history acquire its valid status as an independent discipline and made the criticism of historical data recognized academic criterion in historians` composition. Positivism history originated from Germany, but its impacts are world-wide. Along with times,the theory and practice of positivism history were criticized by new historians and philosophers of history and the scope of criticism went beyond Germany.Although they criticized and suspected the ideal of"according to the facts"of positivism history, they didn`t deny its rationality in the form of the criticism of historical data and succeeded it.So the item masterstroke which impenetrated pre-positivism history,positivism history as well as post-positivism history could be found——the criticism of historical data.This was one of the fundamental conditions by which history acquired its validity and creditability as an independent discipline.
