| Three-Sword Film Society is the first civilian film society in China. Against the background of reformation in China film distribution system, this dissertation focuses on the history of it from 1995 to 2005: description of its foundation, growth and submergence, detailed combing of this special phenomenon happened in the system reform and analysis of its historic value and influence. The essay can be divided into five parts:The introduction summaries the general situation of Three-Sword Film Society and reveals the propose of this dissertation.The second part introduces the social background when Three-Sword Film Society founded and its development. In 1993, No.3 Document and No.47 Document of China Broadcasting Film TV Ministry cleared the obstacles in the way of distribution, which made it possible for Three-Sword Film Society to anticipate the distribution of native-made films. The personal experiences of three members also promoted the birth of Three-Sword Film Society.The third part mainly discusses the prosperity of Three-Sword Film Society. From 1995 to 1997, Three-Sword Film Society as an agent successfully distributed some films, such as Kiss Russia (Kuang Wen E Luo Si), A Story of A Singleton(Yi Ge Du Sheng Nu De Gu Shi), Red Cherry and so on. It also anticipated the promotion and planning of some films, such as Compare Strength(Jiao Liang) and Turning Point(Da Zhuan Zhe) in Guangzhou, which had big influence in film industry.The forth part dealt with the submergence of Three-Sword Film Society. The deep and thorough reformation in China film system brought big change in the distribution industry. However, the defects of Three-Sword Film Society itself hindered it to follow the sudden change, which caused its decline and submergence.The conclusion concludes the history of Three-Sword Film Society and points out the historic value of Three-Sword Film Society in China film history.
