Rossini is a representative composer of the new era of "Bel Canto" School in Italy. The mainly accomplishment of him is the comic opera. And the opera "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" is the best one of all his comic operas. The thesis below aims at the musical analysis of the heroine "Rosina" in the opera "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" in terms of a singer and a graduate student of Vocal singing. Accordingly, it helps to understand the particular way of musical performing and musical language when figuring the role. The thesis is divided into three parts: preface, text and epilogue.The first part, preface, firstly outlines the background of society and opera performing in Europe in the early of 19th, which helps to understand the purpose and intention of writing the opera under the whole historic background. Secondly, it discussed the developing process of the comic opera, the special context of the new style and the course how Rossini developed the style he specialized in. Finally, the thesis tells the life of the composer, the ways he worked, the process of producing the classical opera, and the general story of the opera.The second part, which is the most important, makes the analysis of the role "Rosina". And it will be discussed from five aspects. Firstly, it aims at the process how the composer used the abundant ways to represent the particular style of comic opera. Secondly, it discusses the figure of the representative and characteristic role. Thirdly, it compares the role "Rosina" by Rossini with the one by Mozart. Fourthly, it compares a variety of famous singers who has performed the role in the different performing of "Rosina". The last, it make a comparison with different editions of the role.The third part of the thesis is the conclusion. It includes the style of comic opera by Rossini and the process of the performing the role "Rosina". Also, it involves the particular musical ways of figuring the classical role and its contribution to the development of the opera.
