| The present study intends to investigate the overall situation of reading strategies employed by university freshmen students. The results will be significant to both English reading teaching and learning. The dissertation consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction to the whole dissertation. Chapter 2 is a literature review, in which related theories about reading and learning strategies are reviewed, and then reading strategy is defined and the relationship between reading strategies and learning strategies is illustrated. Chapter 3 focuses on the present study, including the reasons, purpose, the research questions, subjects, instruments and procedures of this research. Chapter 4 is about data collection and analysis. Chapter 5 is the conclusion, which includes the main findings, limitations and implications of the study.
