This paper centers on Singing Theory in Ming and Qing Dynasty, which will be summarized and examined with the idea of pragmatism. And I will set emphasis on its significance to contemporary vocal arts with analysis, induction and comparison.There are two parts: The first part including the first chapter, mainly summarizes and examines Singing Theory in Ming and Qing Dynasty with the idea of pragmatism. On the one hand, the research process of experts on sing theory will be clear, and would understand this clue thoroughly; on the other hand, it highlights the theoretical production which could be realized and absorbed by everyone. This is the basis of this paper.The second part including the second, third chapter and conclusion, technically and artistically, probes into the contemporary significance of singing theory in Ming and Qing Dynasty on technical and artistic aspects. Technically, some concrete principles and methods were associated to language, emotional expression, and vocal techniques in singing theory in Ming and Qing Dynasty, some of which can be used as the tool to solve technical problems in modern music, some of which give us advices to invent and create new technical theory. Artistically, the discussion on aesthetic standard, artistic style and music development has pointed out some basic rules, which can instruct us to ponder over deep and complete theoretical problem, which can provide vocal art with strong support. This is the main part of this paper.
