Hong Ying, is one of the most disputed writers in contemporary China literary arena, she becomes the focus of dispute for her works, "Deeply Moved Heart, Courage Without Fear For Common Customs, and Outstanding Artistic Style." (Remarks from Rome Literature Award )Art is the creation of the human affective sign. This thesis focuses on four of Hong Ying's master works: Daughter of The River, Far Goes The Girl, English Lover and Ananda. By close reading and penetrating into the author's heart and studying the discourse of the text, the essay aims to perceive the author's obsession with affection, love and loneliness.This thesis consists of four parts. Part 1 begins with Daughter of The River, to unscramble the formation of Hong Ying's spiritual and artistic world. Part 2 views from the theme of appetency to observe the affective world of Hong Ying's works, to penetrate the strong love and lonely soul through the description of libido. Part 3 tries to grasp the affective tendency of Hong Ying's fiction through the clue of "choosing to escape," which can be seen as an affective wasteland in the metempsychosis of appetency and suffering. Part 4 concretely analyzes the affective obsession about love and loneliness, which are under the surface of the description about the appetency, escape and religion etc. by mulriple unscrambling on the text of Ananda.To some degrees, Hong Ying's various styles and her affective obsession are coherent, rich artistic representation symbolizes her obsessive affection, and meanwhile which is disproof of her rich representation.People nowadays, who learn the skills of self-spilt to struggle to survive, are suffering from the loneliness that is difficult to be harmonious with oneself, others and nature. Hong Ying profoundly represents the common dilemma and affective anxiety of modern people by her obsessive expressions on love and loneliness.Lonely but full of love and passion, seeking hope in the holiness of desperation, that is the spiritual world in which Hong Ying and the characters in her fictional mind hold on to.
