In recent years, a new interpersonal approach on gender identity has raised. Adolescents have special mental needs and feelings. The research aims to explore the gender indentity of female adolescents in junior high school from the perspective of opposite-sex communication.The study took 84 adolescents who are popularor unpopular as objects, with an aim to test the status of gender identity and the behavior and mechanismin opposite-sex communication through a self-description questionnaire, a gender role construct test and a scene project test. The study shows:1. The descriptions of real self, ideal self and expressed self of both groups enlightened their needs in feminine development and masculine development at the same time.2. The Expressions of truculence mischief and fierce act have different meanings to the two kinds of objects. To the popular girls, they are special strategies in opposite-sex contact, while to the unpopular girls, they are the ideal self- image components.3. The two kinds of girls have different frames of references. To the popular girls, the frame of reference goes well with boys' evaluations or their own evaluation, while to the unpopular girls, it againsts the boy's.4.
