The study is based on Shanghainese learning by subjects who has no related experience of Shanghai dialect in order to explore the psychological functions of voice imitation. There are two reasons for using dialects as experimental materials. Firstly, different dialects share the same platform as mandarin, which induces the difference between different dialects. Secondly, since subjects cannot understand the meanings of Shanghainese, the semantic influence is naturally deprived from learning process. In this way, the nature of voice imitation will be more clear and specific. So dialects are really a good material for voice experiments. Meanwhile, Shanghainese is one of the most particular dialects in China. The study's primary assumption is examining the features of voice learning model by offering visual feedback of voice as well as aural clues. With the help of computer science, some information of voice features can be shown to subjects in order to improve their learning effects. From the aspects of word number, with/without visual feedback, with/without objective evaluation, with/without related experience and etc., conclusions are described as below:1. As word number gets bigger and bigger, learning effects change from Good to Bad. Besides, four-word seems to be the bottleneck of dialect learning.2. Objective evaluation has great influence on subjects' performance.3. Women have stronger endurance than men.4. Men's ability in processing visual information is better than women's, while women more rely on aural information and have better gift of cadence.5. Subjects who have related experience on Shanghainese can make more effective processing of visual information, which may be related to abundant processing resource as well as all the conclusions above.
