The problem of anxiety has perplexed college English learners in English testing situations in China. Compared with the far-ranging urgent need to reduce test anxiety under English testing situation, relative researches started late in China and have not been systemized and focalized. Under the situation, it is of great practical value to carry out investigations on college English learner's test anxiety and find out the influential factor in it.The present study aims to organically combine the psychological and linguistic research results concerning the issue of test anxiety's influence on test performance, and on this basis to reveal the relation between test anxiety and the test performance in English proficiency test situation in China, and then to further explore the ultimate factor of test anxiety under language test circumstances.The research mainly adopted the correlation analysis and factor analysis in the investigation of the relation between test anxiety and the English test performance and in the exploration of the determining factor of test anxiety. Instruments employed in the current study were: scores in the Test for English Majors Band Eight (TEM 8) as the measurement of the English proficiency test performance of the subjects; the Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI) and its two subscales as the instruments of test anxiety; the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS 12.0) as the statistical instrument.
