In our conversation, as frequently used linguistic equipment, zero anaphora refers to a certain concept mentioned before and shows the partial consistency of different parts in conversation, therefore helps to fulfill the integrity and coherence of different parts. The concept referred by zero anaphora is usually called antecedent or signifier. The process of affirming the antecedent referred by zero anaphora is called reference confirmation, which is an indispensable contextual understanding. Only when there is a relationship between zero anaphora and antecedent formed can we understand the meaning of reference and even the sentence and passage.
