J.K. Rowling, one of the most influenced authors in the 21-century, is the author of the serial books of Harry Potter which create the myth in the press constantly. The best selling and popular novel in the whole world made the single mother, J.K. Rowling, become famous overnight and promote to the top 30 of 100 most riches in the world elected by Fortune in the USA. As the first volume of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published in 1998 in England and today it had been translated into 47 languages including Icelandic, Serbian Croatian where few inhabitants live in or are in the flames of war. About 200 million volumes of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone were sold in the whole world and it held 1 billion readers, which took on the 1/6 of the population of the world. In China, more than 10 publishing houses struggled for the Chinese copyright for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. With the movie adapted from the book been on the screen, it created box-office myth with 850 million on the word. From that time we can find a boy's name on every media, TV, papers, broadcasts and magazines, that is Harry Potter.This thesis mainly makes a case study between two versions of Harry Pottter and the Philosopher's Stone on the mainland and in Taiwan and discusses its translation and introduction in China from the point of comparative literature and cultural study.
