This article mainly studied the unity of the theme in Pound's Cantos. It demonstrated that the ecological thinking basing on Chinese culture is the central theme through Pound's whole poetry.This article, firstly, analyzed the reasons why Ezra Pound came into being the ecological ideology. In his poetry, Pound described the degeneration of western society, the crisis of conviction and the decadence of culture. Through the greatest esteem for Chinese civilization, Pound assailed the so-called western civilization. His goal was to use Chinese history as the Western mirror and let the confused west learn the political wisdom of Eastern Sages in order to build an ecological paradise without war, class and racial discrimination, like the society of Chinese ancient civilization.Secondly, through the close reading to Ezra Pound's poetry, we can learn that his creative thoughts on poetry, especially the three creative principles he addressed to Imagism poetry, sufficiently revealed his affirmation to the nature and conciseness of Chinese ancient poetry. Besides, he put some Chinese characters in his poetry, and a strong Confucianism thinking was appeared in his work. Both of them are the expressions of ecological thoughts on Chinese culture. At the same time, we can also find that Ezra Pound's ecological thinking was compatible with the ecological ideas in Chinese ancient philosophical thinking. This ecological thinking was reflected in his esteem on Chinese culture and the ecological paradise built by Chinese minority nationality in reality. All of these are because he hoped that they can take place of the degeneration and decadence in western countries by using Chinese civilization to build a Confucian-style's equal and ecological paradise.Ezra Pound was a controversial poet in the modern literature of American history. In his creative thoughts, there were two limitations: one is the strong disgust at the Jews and the esteem to Mussolini; the other is that he couldn't regard the problem of ecological environment as the social problem.
