Francois Couperin, a rococo leading exponent, left behind him a tremendous legacy, of which his four volumes of clavichord master pieces composed during the maturity stage of his music creation career, well characterize the music style upheld at the time in France, and embody his unique clavichord style.A study on Francois Couperin' s clavichord works will help us gain a better and true understanding of "Rococo Stytle" in vogue during rococo times, a real aesthetic treat to the audience with its diversity, exquisiteness, delicacy, ease, relaxation and joy. Meanwhile it will lead us to the essence of his ideas reflected in his clavichord music creation and his new creative techniques and the impact of all of these on the music composers after him.This thesis attempts to make an in-depth study into the then social vogue and the historic heritage the roots of Francois Coperin' s clavichord music creation style that distinguished him from his contemporaries. Based on his four volumes of collection of his clavichord music works and CD reference materials, the author focuses the study on the structure, titles, ornaments of the music pieces, in an attempt to analyze the characteristics of Francois Couperin' s clavichord works and to shed light on the significance of the clavichord master' s style in enlightening the later music composers.
