Katherine Anne Porter insists that she isn't a feminist though she is much concerned with women's existence and development in her works. In fact, she makes great contribution to feminism. This thesis attempts to analyze feminist ideas both in Porter' life and her works on the basis of social gender theory. Porter's life and social background are introduced at the beginning to prove that she is influenced by feminism. After a brief introduction to the Series of Miranda, Porter illustrates how social gender is formed by telling Miranda's growth. Porter also explores the relationship between men and women because it is an essential part in feminism. In this part, ideas on conflict, difference and equality are mentioned. For her achievement, Porter makes great contribution to women literature and women's studies.
