With sexism being tackled, the whole world has assumed a new attitude toward everything we handle. And the movement has propelled the society moving in a sounder direction. What is more important, it is the "sisterhood" that has pushed the three Feminist Waves to their peaks. So it can never be too much to say that sisterhood has been the dynamic momentum in the Feminist movement. And we can never talk about feminism without mentioning sisterhood. Toni Morrison is a most influential black women writer whose main concern is sisterhood. So the purpose of this paper is to probe into the complex of sisters in her masterpiece Beloved and disclose the constant theme of sisterhood in all of her novels. The paper goes on to analyze the presence and the development of the concept of sisterhood, and comes to a conclusion that sisterhood is an unneglectable factor in the Feminist moment. Meanwhile the paper points out that sisterhood is not an unfailing power though a goal for the females to pursue, an urger to keep females working together and a propeller in building a society into a more harmonious one. As a last touch, this paper also exposes the sexism existing in literary works to remind the reader that the ingrained sexism cannot be eradicated without the joint efforts of the whole world. | Keywords/Search Tags: | feminism, sisterhood, Toni Morrison, Beloved | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
