Conflict And Amalgamation Between Chinese And Western Cultures

The comparative research into Chinese and the Western cultures has a long history in China, which goes through primarily four periods. However, there was a major shortcoming in the previous researches, namely, there were almost not practical investigations on the concrete differences. As culture is developed as a whole, and this development includes the accumulation of historical factors, both vertical and horizontal, there is one fact that can't be ignored when we are doing the research. The cultural comparison should not be researched in isolated environment but in the circumstances of cultural dissemination and exchange. Based on this theory, and in order to avoid in isolated environment, the article will take the West Street of YangShuo for example and take its tourism as the background for the research. In sociological fields, this article belongs to applied and empirical type. Meanwhile, in methods, I adopt qualitative, quantitative and documentary research methods to collect plenty of materials related to cultural conflicts and amalgamation, and to analyze their causes, which include the following several parts.In the first part, the article first presents the key definitions of"culture","Chinese culture"and"the Western culture", for every concept has multiple definitions. Secondly, the text summarizes present researches which include the comparative research on Chinese culture and the western culture, and the research on the tourism of YangShuo, especially the West Street of YangShuo. Finally, the article presents the visual angle, which bases on the culture of China and the western countries, and takes tourism as the background for the research.
