A Brief Interpretation On The Literay Phenomenon Of Poetry Into Fiction In The Four Great Works During The Ming And Qing Dynasty

The four Great Works during the Ming and Qing Dynasty,which include"the Romance of the Three Kingdoms","Outlaws of the Marsh","Pilgrimage to the West"and"A Dream of Red Mansions",are the treasure of Chinese literature.Phenomenon of poetry into fiction is one of the notable national featueres.The poems in the four great works are numerous in quantity,miscellaneous in kind; and they are in the flow of development from small to large, from unrefined to refined,from setoff into organic unity.In this regard, domestic and international experts have written many books and articles of different characteristics and gained fruitful achievements. however,most of these studies facus on the investigation into some function of the poetry in single fiction,less on the overall exposition of the causes and roles in the text.In view of this ,ths paper is going to give a full and concise investigation into the above two items on the whole,in order to have rather a complete understanding.This literary phenomenon roughly comes from six aspects:1 Rich legacy of poetry is the material basis.China is a country of magnificent poetry.From the beginning of"The Book of Sangs",Songs of Chu,Hanfu,Poetry of Tang,Ci Poetry of Song,Qu Poetry of Yuan were the representive literary genres of their own times.Without them,the phenomenon coulden't come into being.2 A unigue poetic culture is its spiritual sequence.The human-kind has its first"poetic wisdom"(Vico's words).Owing to its fracture,western civilization develops towards logicization and philosophisation.But thanks to its continuity,Chinese civilization ,the unity of Confucianism,Daoism and Buddhism,can carry on the cultural heritage of the early poetic wisdom and have a profound and unique poetic spirit.The Literary phenomenon of poetry into fiction is the representation of the poetic spirit.3 The heavy custom of political and moral teaching is its thought direction.The classic verse is deeply subjected to the influence of the orthodox Confusianism and takes on the function of political and moral teaching.The four Great Novels benefit the tradition and have the same inclination.By this way,the classic poetry rushes into these novels.4 The clear–cut contrast between their positions is the literary style reason.The fiction in ancient china hasn't gained literatry status and its style significance from its uprising to ending,and with a derogatory sense.But classic poetry has always been the authentic represention of our ancient literatry,with a respect and honorable position.The huge difference urges fiction to lift itself with the help of poetry.5 The tradition of poetry into fiction is the historical foundation.The Phenomenon of poetry into fiction flow far long ,and beated the solid history foundation for the phenomenon of poetry into the four Great Works during the Ming and Qing Dynasty.Derived from the scripts of historical stories during the Song and Yuan Dynasty ,the Four Great Works directy followed its precedent at the same time.6 The outstanding talent is the factor about the author .In a poetry country,a novelist can be well educated in poetry.The author who is good at both poetry and fiction always shows off his literatry talent,to carry on or hand down his poems.This is the factor with regard to author.Poetry shares many functions in the four Great Works.Poems aren't often used in the characters'dialogue,only some in"Pilgromage to the West".The fighting poems and portrait poems in"Outlaw of the Marsh"and"Pilgrimage to the West"are more than in"the Romance of the Three Kingdoms",and quite few fighting ones can be seen in"A Dream of Red Mansions".The all of the four Great Works ,there are some successful poems describing the psychology of characters.The poetry in"A Dream of Red Mansions"is better than that of the other three in character description from all aspects.In plot developing,the poems in the first three novels accasionally promate their integration into the development of the plot,but these in"A Dream of Red Mansions"integrate into the plot nearly entirely,even poetisize it.In describing a typical enviranment,the poems of combat scences in"the Romance of the Three Kingdoms"are more than the landscape ones.The poems describing social circumstance in"Pilgrimage to the West"is less than in"Outlaws of the Marsh",and the landscape poems in the former are more than and better than in the latter.Both of them have many poems of combat scences .The poems of environment description in"A Dream of Red Mansions"are in large number and very wonderful.In deepening the theme ,a good many evaluating poems in"the Romance of the Three Kingdoms"all give play to the political and moral teaching,the poems in"Outlaws of the Marsh"deepen the loyalty and chivalry theme,and integrate into the plot to some extent,the poems in"Pilgrimage to the West"is less formal expression of feudal and orthodox thought, the poems in"A Dream of Red Mansions"rebel against the feudal and tradition thought,reveal the contemporary rule and reflect the dreamy and illusory life .Tn optimizing the aristic structure,the poems in the first three novels seem to be throughout the whole structure.but in reality all disconnected,and is not able to integrate into the context;the poems and ci in"A Dream of Red Mansions"appear to have no uniform scheme,actually dominate the overall,cluster the speech,optimize the structure,integrated into characters and plot,give excellent service to the subject.In highlighting the aesthetic value,the four novels all give aesthetic expression to aristic conception,diction,style of writing and so on,however,only the poems in"A Dream of Red Mansions"have the lasting appeal and the most abundant beauty.
