The Analysis Of Pragmatic Comparison In Intercultural Communication

Recently, more and more Chinese scholars are interested in the study of Intercultural Communication with the economic development in China and the increase of our contacts with people of other countries. Intercultural Communication covers a great deal of aspects. A brief discussion on the development of Intercultural Communication and its application in different areas will be beneficial to the present research on Intercultural Communication. Meanwhile, the intercultural awareness plays a very important role in the process of the communication. The research of the intercultural communication should be integrated with the improvement of the communicative awareness for it tends to be very necessary for the improvement of the communicative competence. However the intercultural communication can be realized by means of the language. So in the course of the intercultural communication, people will necessarily meet some of the problems in terms of the language as well as the cultures involved, which is one of the hot topics studied by many researchers. Various pragmatic issues such as greetings, complimenting, expressions of gratitude, partings, apologies and request etc. will be analyzed for the smoothness of the intercultural communication in case of the failures when interacting with a new culture. In other word, to decrease the pragmatic failures and to improve the communicative competence tends to be one of the major tasks of the English learners.The problem of pragmatic failure has been holding an important position in the study of intercultural communication and pragmatics. The thesis is intended to have the analysis on the pragmatic failures in the course of the intercultural communication by comparison, aiming at the avoidance of the communication failure. And the author presents the strategy to set up a successful communication by strengthening cultural awareness and avoiding negative stereotyping. Setting up the concept of the language study and the cultural study definitely help the learners to fulfill the intercultural communication.
