Translation Of Implicit Information In Light Of The Frame Theory

Translation is a process of information transmission, which is mature in theory in the west. A great many essays have been published in this field, probing from various perspectives. But the formation and transmission of implicit information are still new and gaining more and more attention of linguists and translation theorists. The study on it is at its beginning. Many scholars and translators have published a few articles only giving empirical discussion on it, without forming systematic theories.This paper will try to explore the problem of transmission of implicit information in light of the Frame Theory, on which no systematic and theoretical study has been done in the academic community. It is the original idea of this thesis.It is virtually impossible for texts in different languages to be formulated with the same explicit and implicit information structure. In order to convey the information of original text of one language, the explicit expressions in another language should carry implicit parts to make up the whole of sense. Thus, although without definite linguistic expressions, implicit information should also be transmitted. The frame theory defines a cognitive frame in terms of a remembered framework to be adapted to fit reality, or of a network with frame components working harmoniously together.
