The Synthetical Comments On Zheng Banqiao's Literary Works

Being famous for his matchless poetry, calligraphy and painting, Zheng Banqiao is known by all. That is why, in academic circles, it is not a surprise to see a great amount of achievements on his calligraphies and paintings. The studies of Zheng's literary thoughts and creative work, however, don't seem to be systematical and deep-going.In thesis, comparisons of researches on Zheng before and now are firstly given followed by the aim and illustratingways of this paper. The main body is made up by six chapters and arranged as follows. Zheng's life, experiences and great works are generally described in the first chapter in order to develop his creative inspirations naturally. The second chapter mainly discusses Zheng's literary thoughts, of which viewpoints, giving prominence to one's personality, attaching importance to enlighten people, emphasizing natural, honest, bold and vigorous writing, setting apart various literary types and functions, play an leading role in contents and features of his poems, lyrics and essays. In chapter three the ideological contents and artistic styles of Zheng Banqiao's poetries are revealed in full scale. On one hand, the ideological contents will be generally summed up into five types, that is, exposing common people's suffering, praising .beautiful scenery, versifying historic events to meditate on past, inscribing poems of painting, and lyrics about bamboo branches in Wei county. On the other hand, the artistic styles of Zheng Banqiao's poetries in my research work are expanded in three different ways. To be exact, they are bold and unconstrained, deep-going and easy-understanding, elegant and tasteful. The main topics and artistic styles of Zheng's lyrics are discussed in chapter four. Five different groups- popular feeling, poetic comments, scenery, historic events and lyric poetries- will be sorted out from the main topics. As for artistic styles, this thesis takes them on through extremely wonderful words, discontented sentiments and far-reaching allusions. In chapter five ten Dao Qing poetry and lyrics are studied separately from two sides. One is figure images, the other, artistic skills. In chapter six, Zheng Banqiao's essays are categorized into three different ways, that is, family books, stone tablets and poems after painting, of which, we can see, Zheng's unique artistic style and features are totally presented in all levels, such as in form, style, words and so on. The right ways of education, affectional exertion, agricultural placement, and son love will be illustrated thoroughly in his family books. The literary and artistic viewpoints, however, will be reflected in his stone tablets and poems after painting separately. At last, Zheng Banqiao's literary status and influences are introduced briefly.
