This paper studies the literature and academic research in Wu Kingdom of Three Kindoms period , with literature as its main object, and endeavors to give the original picture of literature and academic research commonly neglected. At the end of Han Dynasty, many literators moved to Jiang-nan, a place with long literature tradition, to escape from war in central China, and brought with them new literature elements which changed the local conservative literature style. Mergence of styles from both north and south produced Sun-Wu literature, a tripartite of Chinese literature, with Wei and Shu literature as the other two parts, and acted as headstream of Liu-Chao literature.Research on literature and academic research in Wu Kingdom, which still puts emphasis on its history, is insufficient, particularly less on its literature, therefore comprehensive and systematic research is needed. On the bases of existing research, this paper studies the background, writers and literature works of Wu Kingdom. I will deal with the above subjects in four parts:The first part is a summarization of Sun-Wu literature. I will introduce the general situation, the historical background of Three Kingdoms with its related literature, mentality of literators and their hobby of theoretical talk. The second part is about the tradition of southern literature and the mergence of styles from both north and south. With history as the background, I will discuss the literature tradition up to pre-Qin dynasty, the relatively conservative style, and the mergence of styles resulted from literators moving to the south at the end of Han Dynasty. The third part probes into the relationship between the family tradition of noble families in Wu Kingdom and the accomplishments in literature of Liu-Chao period. The fourth part discuss literature works in Wu Kingdom, especially those of Lu Ji and Lu Yun before they moved to Luoyang. As the remains of the Sun-Wu literature, their works during the period of Wu Kingdom and those after they moved to Luoyang came in one continuous line, while their style was quite different before they moved to Luoyang.
