By collecting of relative historical materials and analyzing of those information, this paper tries to figure out how Arthur Schnitzler influenced Shi Zhecun in his life and works, from the beginning to the end. The main tool used in this paper is comparativism from influence research area. And with consideration of historical condition, personal characteristic and aesthetic pursuit.There are three sections in this paper. First we review the growing process of Mr. Shi Zhecun. He was born in a traditional orient culture, which give him his orient temperament. Sometime later cultures from west come to his eyes and enlarged his views. From his early articles, we can already find a hybrid characteristic from both west and east. In the mean time, he appeared to have strong interest in psychoanalysis. Then we piece up the inducement and intrinsic factor that made Mr. Shi Zhecun choose and accept Arthur Schnitzler in his world. Both the time he was in and the requirement from himself contributed to this influence. In the last part, we focus on how Mr. Shi Zhecun broke through the influence of Arthur Schnitzler and made his own success in this area. This can be proved by compare Shi's works with Schnitzel's, mainly on expression of erotic topic, method in writing interior monologue and attention on women's mentality. Obviously Mr. Shi Zhecun learned his skills and style in psychoanalytic description from Arthur Schnitzler. But he kept his orient mentality and culture base, which made east and west culture mix well in his novels.Because of the time and environment Mr. Shi Zhecun in, influence of Arthur Schnitzler could not contribute to further penetration.
