Liezi has tremendous influence on the traditional Chinese Culture. Most of researches on Leizi focus on its authenticity and pseudograph, writing age, and its author, but little attention has been paid to its thought and cultural value. Based on the past research, the paper focuses on three aspects: the book, its author, and annotations; streams of thoughts of Liezi; its influences. The paper falls into three chapters: each part is independent and interrelated. The. first chapter reviews the authenticity of the book and its author, its Buddhism ideas, discussing that Liezi is belong to HuangLaoXue works of PreQin Dynasty or to metaphysics works of Weijin Dynasty, concluding that Leizi is one of books of Zhuzi with characteristic of early thoughts of HuangLaoXue. The second chapter deals with the historical spread of lei zi. The last chapter focuses on the textual analysis, comparing the relationship of Lei zi and Taoism with that of Lei zi and DaoGroup.
