Led and influenced by the famous hypothesis put forward by Naito Konan regarding the modernity of Song Dynasty, the general cultural and academic topics in Song Dynasty have become one of the most important theses for the Japanese sinologists to study on. In the latest twenty years, some of the young and middle-aged Japanese sinologists have been focusing on the study on Song literature especially those related to the ancient prose. As a part of the research results, a collection consisting of six books have been translated to Chinese, which was published by Shanghai Guji Press and edited by a famous and respected scholar Wang Shuizhao. Just based on these materials, this dissertation needs to summarize and introduce their opinions and theories. Moreover, comparing with the corresponding part, I'm trying to find out the unique ways in their perspective, thoughts and approaches of research and give some rough comments. With the relatively accurate evaluation, I hope it could help Japanese and Chinese scholars communicate and share experience in this research field and benefit the related domestic research. This dissertation is made up of 3 chapters. The brief introduction before chapter one is to help understand the basic information of this collection such as the scope of research, the choice of the materials and different research angles and points as well as the Naito Hypothesis as the principles of the research. As the main parts of the dissertation, the chapter one and chapter two elaborate and analyze the main viewpoints of the Japanese scholars towards movements for ancient prose such as the imperial examination system, the fashion of exam papers and the differentiation among several literature styles. Meanwhile, I also compare them with the research results from domestic scholars. The last chapter is to find out the innovative approaches the Japanese sinologists adopted in order to help us broaden researches' sights, encourage and inspire the scholars to achieve expected research objectives.
