Akutagawa Ryunosuke (1892—1927) was idol writer in the modern Japanese literature, he ended his life by the way of suicide in the 35 years old, then ended both his life and literature. About the reasons of suicide, one representative opinion was the contradiction between admiring "beautiful paradise" and falling deeply into "dark hell", was the conflict between "the morality what an intellectual had and the repression of custom world". (Kawabata Kose words) Chinese ancient poem theory also has the concept of "the evil likes to see that people always sad , the article hates that writer enjoys success and happiness".(Du Fu words). It means that Akutagawa was probably a writer who had rich poetic qualities.Akutagawa's literature achieves mainly was novel. On the novel form, he expressed distinctive viewpoint in his last months: Novelist must had poet quality, the most important value of novel was to show the "poetic spirit"; Only those writers who experienced more suffering than common people could show the "poetic spirit", but these writers might lead to more miserable life and even drive to the depths of despair. What relations had between the distinctive "poetic spirit" and Akutagawa's novel creation? If we say his literature career was insisting on and running after the "poetic spirit" conscientiously, then how did his many novels show the "poetic spirit" concretely? The thesis takes the "poetic spirit" as perspective point, and adopts Chinese traditional literary criticism "commenting the man and the world" as analysis method, to scan and inspect synthetically Akutagawa's creating individuality and literature's characteristic. The thesis expounds the core of his literature spirit from the new angle vigorously.Main thesis arguments are: 1, Above of all, Akutagawa's "poetic spirit" is the true portrait of his literature practice, this is showed concretely in that he tried to oppose and exceed the survival difficulties, the literary circles' bad habits, the common customs' prejudice, and even routine ethics. 2, In the social background which Akutagawa lived, the "poetic spirit" led him to bring ugly human natures to light straightly, to think and ask the relationship between the ugly human nature and ugly society, to prize and eulogize the kindness of weak people, and to arouse his literary imagination that he overcame the ugly human nature by being "superman". 3, The most distinctive bright of the "poetic spirit" is that Akutagawa dared to run risks to criticize ugly society, he dared to criticize the "Bushido" which advocated external aggression and expansion, and to criticize the capitalism system of Japan Taisho times, It was deserved that Akutagawa's criticism was a glitter in the gloomy sky of modern Japanese literature history in early phase. 4, The "poetic spirit" led Akutagawa to show sympathy for socialism thought, but in one hand, he didn't dare to do actions, in the other hand, he refused to compromise to reality, the poet quality drove him to the difficult position of character by himself. In the end, he chose the destiny that "used the thin sword with lacking for edge as crosier."...
