Toni Morrison is the first black American to be cited for Nobel Prize in Literature. Her Beloved was awarded Pulitzer Prize. The paper researches its main postmodern narrative strategies and themes.Postmodernism is a term that is much in vogue in academic circles, exerting considerable influence upon the world today. It is definitely explained from its Historical Information, Definition and Significance. Here focuses on Postmodern American Fiction. Postmodern American writer, Toni Morrison, stands in the vanguard of contemporary American literature. Here presents the distinguished international writer from her Biographical Information, Literary Career and International Recognition. By now acknowledged as a cornerstone in African-American literature, Beloved propelled Toni Morrison and her work to the highest level of international recognition. Based on the postmodern narrative principles such as Fragmentary Chronology, Blurry Genre, Multi-Voice, the novel presents a new way of seeing history, refusing master narrative. It gives a total access to the unwritten life of the black slaves. Beloved is a great novel, not only for its consummate use of all kinds of writing techniques, but also for its strong themes. Here presents the theme of Critique on Subjectivity and Interrogation of Received History. Toni Morrison reconstructs African American history moving African Americans from objects to subjects in American history. The novel has a profound postmodern significance. Here concludes its postmodern significance in the field of history, literature and politics.
