This paper analyzed the violent element in Peter Jackson's films. Before the < The Lord of The Rings>, Peter Jackson was known as "the king of the bloody film." Almost all his early works, such as to < The_Frighteners>, his film was full of images of blood and violence : bloody aliens, zombie war, murder phantom……It was interesting that the film was not fearful but funny. As a director that addicted to the violence and terrorism ,he was good at making jokes and banter to weaken the violence. On the other hand, Peter Jackson is a nimble man, he changed his violence element to meet the situation. In < The Lord of The Rings> and , the violent element had been successfully mainstreamed. Violence in Peter Jackson film's never disappeared, but the form had been changing.The paper was divided into five sections : introduction, conclusion and the three chapters.Introduction : A brief introduction of the history of the New Zealand Film and Peter Jackson's works.
