The reduplication in Chinese is an important grammar means that distributes extensively and uses multifariously. Compared with the Indo-European languages, Chinese haven't plenty of morphology patterns. But it is rich in reduplication patterns. The specialists lay special emphasis on language study. This thesis is based on an investigation of the reduplication of Xinhua dialect.This text is divided into six parts . A general introduction in the first part introduces the current researches on Xinhua dialect. The second chapter analyzes the phonetic system of. Xinhua dialect by analyzing the initial consonants, vowels and tones. The third chapter depicts the overlapping usage of verbs. Firstly it introduces that the reduplication in Chinese is an important grammar means. Then it studies the characteristics on the grammar meanings and functions. The forth chapter depicts the overlapping usage of adjectives. It not only studies the characteristics on the grammar meanings and functions in the beginning,but also analyzes it by synthesizing the conditions of adjective reduplication and the differences between one type and another . The fifth chapter introduces noun reduplications including the characteristics on the grammar meanings and functions, then it compares noun reduplications with "子" suffix in Xinhua dialect. The sixth chapter introduces measure word reduplications including its characteristics on the grammar meanings and functions.
