The thesis will expound Anton Bruckner who lived in the later halfof romantics and his symphony no.4 ("romantic").The people always attach importance to Wagner and Mahler, whenthey expound the music and musician of this age. But Bruckner is seldommentioned, who lives between Wagner and Mahler. The inspiration ofBruckner's music stems from the sincere belief of catholic, but the contentand the thoughts is beyond the religions category. His musical structurestems from classic music tradition which takes the Mozart and Beethovenas the deputy. The soul of his musical thoughts breaks out of them, and hismusical thoughts is beyond Wagner, what more raise to the anotherphilosophic peak which is comparative to the Beethoven's musicalthoughts.The work symphony no.4 of that is the most popular in theBruckners's works, which is choosed by the writer, was made in the middleage of Bruckner's career. But from the developed line of his 11 symphonyworks, it is in the critical middle age of his creation, and some parts of thiswork become the omen of later works.The thesis has 3 parts: the composer's career, the muiscal age ofwhen he lives, the main character of his symphonies will be given a brief account in the first chapter. The creative stye, character and the specificanalysis of symphony no.4 will be given a brief account, and his musicalcharacter will be expressed from his concrete works in the secondchapter. The question, why has not the Bruckner's muisc attach importancefor 100 years, and what is the Bruckner's music culture basis and worthwill be made; and answered in the third chapter. In the last of thesis, thewriter will present the "Bruckner spirit" and its essence for the frist timeand then expound.
