At all times, People, regardless of life, work and study, areaccustomed to one mode of thinking that is from the way of remainingunchanged despite all outside changes to seeking victory as steadyprogress. With facing new matters and problems, it is necessary for us toanalyze, study and settle them from all directions and points of view toreach improvement from opposite-direction thinking.Opposite-direction thinking in drawing is one break routine thinkingway that not only possesses the common characters of opposite-directionthinking, but is characterized special meaning in the field of drawing, thatis to say it is one repeated thinking process from "Have method toWithout method to Have method". For the renewal demands of society,economy, science and technology, and their own ideas, this specialthinking way has been put into the painters' paintings consciously orunconsciously. It is mainly embodied in four aspects such as therethinking of traditional models, rethinking of foreign conventions,negation for other painters, and rethinking of the painter himself.Otherwise, we should pay attention to this dual nature of dialecticalphilosophy on using the opposite-direction thinking then make surescientific and correct utilization. This way that is rethinking duringinheritance process so as to realize "rejecting the dross and selecting theessence".As this thinking way has been proved and embodied on many paintersincisively and vividly, it is imperative and responsible for us, art teachersin colleges and universities, to train the new-generation youth students' special thinking way. Thus, this writer, according to the current studyingsituation of opposite-direction thinking in colleges and universities,constructively and exploratory seeks for a breakthrough from the twomajor sectors between teacher and student, wherefrom puts forward somepoints of view that are conductive to the students' acquirement of theopposite-direction thinking, and has discussed it in detail. Then,considering my personal teaching practice and experience about thisthinking mode, I indicate that this thinking mode not only has importantmeaning in art teaching of colleges and universities, but also occupies acrucial function for the development of the whole painting world.
