As a kind of popular daily utensil, lacquer-ware has a very long history. China is one of the earliest countries, which used lacquer-ware. Lacquer-ware first appeared at the beginning of Warring States, and had since developed a splendid lacquer-ware culture. "In history, lacquer-ware culture experiences beginning, growth, maturity in Warring States, and prolonged to Han Dynasty period." It declined, since chinaware was used extensively. After that, function of lacquer-ware departure from daily use to decoration purpose.To be the daily instrument, lacquer-ware conveys different group people's characteristics. Every group of people would permeate it with specific society value, and have different aesthetic standards. It would carry particular culture information--"content / substance". This substance, which contains ancient people's variable demand, using different materials, and various technologies, is designed and manufactured to be a kind of utensil with practice and decorative functions.Lacquer-ware appears in people's daily life with a stable form, and keeps close to people. In this substance contains peoples' idea, aesthetic standard, and religion at that era. Mr. Feng Gao an expert once said: "history of utensil is history of Chinese culture. Utensil in a certain period is mark of culture, and symbol of civilization. So one cannot research Chinese ancient utensils without studying on Chinese culture and vise versa.This article focuses on analysis on Lacquer-ware from warring States to Han Dynasty by chronicle. It analyzes the evolution of Phoenix from cloud decoration patterns (the evolution of Phoenix decoration patterns from thirsted Phoenix to Phoenix-cloud to cloud-phoenix to cloud-qi Patterns)changing procedure; investigates decoration styles and history background, to find the internal factors of the evolution.
