| Folk beliefs in our country enjoy a long history and have deep social foundation. Along with our country's reform and opening-up, Chinese folk beliefs have gradually developed into an active social phenomenon because of the loose environment. Yimeng mountain area, a famous old revolutionary base area, shows its univerality as well as particularity in regard to folk beliefs. Through the analysis of the current situation, characteristics and influence of the folk beliefs in this area, this paper hopes to look at traditional Chinese folk beliefs dialectically in a developing vison and seek-truth-from facts attitude.The folk beliefs in Yimeng mountain areas mainly include the following three types: ancestry worship, faith in ghosts and gods and sorcery. By enumerating concrete cases, the author made clear the attitudes of farmers towards each kind of belief and carried out analysis. The results of the questionnaire showed the following characteristics of folk beliefs in Yimeng mountain area. First, there is extensive mass base for them. Second, motives for such beliefs are complicated. Third, the pursuers often have strong material and mundane desires. Fourth, the main believers are the old, young and female. Fifth, various faiths coexists. Then this paper summarized the influences of folk beliefs in this area. On the one hand, folk beliefs have their modern value. As spiritul pillar,they can civilize the mass, maintain various clansmen relations so as to safeguard the stability of rural areas; they generate rich feature cultural art and promote temple fair economy. On the other hand, there ineluctable are negative effects. Superstition will mislead people's behavior, idle away people's enterprising will, and the clansmen influence will gain ground. Besides, this paper also dwelt on the following remarkable issues: the need of faith among moutain area farmers, the relationship between economic development and folk beliefs, the wanton spring-up of clansmen influence and juvenile superstition.Finally, measures on guiding healthy folk beliefs and satisfying the need of beliefs among farmers are put forward. Firstly, strengthen new village construction, establish a good base for conversion. (1) Push forward anti-poverty progress to eliminate superstition foundation. (2) Improve and perfect the primary organs of political power. (3) Promote socialist ideological and ethical progress to build a healthy environment for beliefs. (4) Perfect rural social security system to resist penetration of superstitious thoughts. Secondly, give full play to farmers' initiative to strengthen the momentum for conversion. (1) Develop rural education to foster fanners' independent personality. (2)Strengthen ideological and political education to improve farmer's ability in choosing beliefs. (3) Let farmers play the leading role in culture to entertain themselves. Thirdly, optimize the contents of folk beliefs to boost rural civilization. (1) Upgrade the quality of culture to convert its practical function. (2) Achieve the coordinated development of folks beliefs and socialist ideology. (3) Improve and perfect innovation mechanism for folk beliefs to boost up the vitality of them.
