This paper takes Li Bai's cultural personality as the research object, in the three dimensional coordinates composed by the China intellectual's personality history, the time spirit of the prosperous Tang dynasty and the Bashu regional culture locates Li Bai, attempts from the surmounting angle of view to explain Li Bai's life pursue and the personality characteristic, tries hard to make profound promulgating to Li Bai's cultural connotation.This paper divides four chapters, the first chapter divides four, the first section traces the China intellectual from pre-qin to Sui and Tang dynasties' personality development course in order to excavate the relations between Li Bai's independent personality and the Chinese history and culture. The second section dissertates the surmounting mettle of the cultural spirit of the prosperous Tang dynasty, in order to seek the time reason of Li Bai's surmounting pursue. The third section elaborates Bashu culture's many yuan patterns and Taoism characteristic in order to seek the regional reason of Li Bai's independent personality and surmounting pursue. The fourth section narrates and comments Li Bai's life story from Taoism angle so as to comb Li Bai's life path of surmounting pursue under the influence of Tao thought and Taoism's ideal of asking immortal.The second chapter has six sections which mainly dissertates the relation between the time spirit of the prosperous Tang dynasty and Li Bai's intense life consciousness. The first section points out that Li Bai had continued the independent personality which was born from Wei and Jin dynasties. The time spirit of the prosperous Tang dynasty had poured into formidable vigor for it, from this stimulated Li Bai's intense life consciousness. The Second to the fourth section analyzes three kind of prominent performance shape of Li Bai's life consciousness. First is expanding self-image like the volcanic eruption through imagination in his poets. Next is expanding self-space by the way of roam. The third reveals the life original in the spirit freedom condition of independent personality. The fifth promulgates wine's different function way of crazy and narcosis. Essentially drunk is seeking the ideal and the reality balance. The sixth section dissertates the relation between Li Bai's drunk and surmounting pursue. The first part points out that drunk has a kind of metaphor relations with his political ideal, which means Li Bai's political ideal and political life is in fact a kind of pissed illusion. The second part points out that Li Bai's drunk affects mutually with touring scenery and has similar function of comforting spirit. The third part seeks relation between drunk and asking the immortal, points out that drunk and asking immortal are both the ways of flight from reality. In a word, drunk is a kind of spiritual descendent, while Li Bai's political ideal, touring scenery and asking immortal has certain surmounting meaning. Li Bai realized the ideal and the reality balance through drank wine.The third chapter has five sections, which mainly discusses the relation between Tao thought and Li Bai. The different fate of Confucianism's descendent strengthened Li Bai's independent personality, free spirit and the tendency against Confucian order. Embarked from the independent and free personality, Li Bai's meritorious achievements ideal taked oneself as a centre, presented the obvious self-realization characteristic and weakened the attention to reality. Under the influence of the time spirit and Tao thought, Li Bai's ideal scheme pursued both performing meritorious deeds and retiring after meritorious service, manifesting surmounting nature to reality. While Li Bai's political ideal defeat caused the surmounting nature of retiring after meritorious service transformed for the nature of flight from reality. The essential of Li Bai's flight from reality is drawing back to the nature and in Li Bai there nature is symbolizing the freedom and the eternal.The fourth chapter has five sections which mainly discusses the relation between asking the immortal and Li Bai's surmounting pursue. Pre-qin Zhuang Zi based on the incisive critique to reality and profound reconsidering to the bad human nature proposed the "superhuman" ideal which broke through the utility of Zhou dynasty's culture and Confucianism, opened the beginning of the descendant's intellectual to pursue surmounting reality. Wei and Jin dynasties' Ji Kang inherited Zhuang Zi's natural view, also influenced by the Taoism to ask immortal formed new superhuman ideal with the characteristic of maintaining personality freedom and criticizing the reality. Li Bai inherited the ideal of surmounting reality of Zhuang Zi and the intellectual since Wei and Jin dynasties. While because of the profound uniformity between the individual pursue and the time spirit of the prosperous Tang dynasty, Li Bai's asking immortal had the same direction with the time spirit, not the reverse critique to the reality. While with the failure of political ideal, Li Bai's surmounting pursue of asking immortal had the meaning of criticizing reality. Li Bai spreaded the pursue to eternal life to many aspects of society and history and formed the values with the centre of "eternal". With the failure of performing meritorious deeds and asking immortal, Li Bai's so called "eternal" turned into emptiness with nothing and caused lonely spirit and life tragedy which related with the richness of the utility and the lack of surmounting religious spirit of Chinese cultural spirit.
