With some differences with the other music teaching, the vocal art teaching is characterized by abstract one. It is hardly an object teaching except external concert performances. Therefore, the vocal teaching is regarded as the most difficult discipline to learn and to teach.Based on her aplenty experience of learning vocal music and the recently international and domestic development of vocal art teaching, the author reads a lot of literature and puts forward the concept of "Soft Singing", a new theory of vocal art teaching. This new teaching idea is of great significance for the future vocal teaching and learning.In Introduction, the author points out the related concepts, purpose and significance of this topic.In Part One, through reading a lot of historical literature and biographies, the author reviews thel9th century's history of vocal art teaching, summarizes the demand of history of vocal art teaching, raises the advanced idea of "Soft Singing" and discusses its necessity and practicability.In Part Two, by introducing the mechanism of voice production and describing the method of how to get soft and relaxed voice, the author tries to prove that the soft and relaxed singing originates from the natural interaction among physiological organs.In Part Three, the author elaborates on the practice of "Soft Singing" at operas and art songs. The ultimate goal of singing should include: the singer's tone is bright and pure; the singer has a voice of great volume and a united register; the singer has deep breath and can control breath adroitly; the singer's voice is coherent and natural.In Conclusion, the author sums up the main result of this study.
