Identifying The Kao Gong Ji·Qing Shi

As one of the Chinese oldest treatise on handicrafts, The Ritual Works of Zhou Kao Gong Ji》involves introductions of the manufacture system and regulations of some court instruments. The Chapter 'the people who produce the Qings' contains specific discussions concerning the manufacture of Shi Qing, which is so important that still being frequently mentioned by scholars nowadays. However, due to the limitations of professional knowledge and available archeological materials, most of these scholars inferred the book's written time and the author's nationality based on the analysis of the relationship between some viewpoints of the book and the history background. The research ways, which are based on the relevance of references, is considered to be limited according to my research. Some scholars began to make use of the results and methodology of archaeology, but their research focused on the surface relationship between discovered Shi Qing and 'the people who produce the Qings', which lacked of deep and comprehensive analysis on the archeological materials. On the other hand, the musical connotation of Shi Qing, which should no doubt be the subject of the research, did not get deserved attention.Recently published The Series of Chinese Musical Culture Object demonstrates rich but vivid archeological materials of Shi Qing, which were acquired from long time on-site investigation and comprehensive study. The publication of The Series of Chinese Musical Culture Object makes researchers possible gain access to very rich datas and image of Shi Qing, which is hard to think before. Based on The Series of Chinese Musical Culture Object and former scholar's valuable achievment, this paper shows comprehensive comparison and analysis on the people who produce the Qings contents Concerning the manufacture and regulations of Shi Qing, even the author of The Ritual Works of Zhou·Kao Gong Ji written time and the author's nationality. This paper is believed tobe an archeological conferment of The Ritual Works of Zhou·Kao Gong Ji.
