The extensive Qilu culture, based on the thought of esteeming virtue and courtesy, with the down-to-earth feature of emphasizing on practical feasibility and simplicity, and with the tradition of respecting teachers and attaching importance to education, has a complete and deep influence on people's life, convention and concepts as well as TV documentary works of Shandong Province. In this essay, particular details about Shandong TV documentary works (1970s- )are presented and analyzed from the perspective of regional culture with the purpose of providing a new visual angle and exploring a new way for the art creation of Shandong TV documentary works.Shandong Province,with its great development of economy and mass media, plays a significant role in keeping stability and solidarity in our society, developing our country in a harmonious way and prospering our country by emphasizing on science and education. The creation of TV art especially Shandong TV documentary works featured by Qilu cultural characteristic, which is to record the cultural and social development of Shandong Province for the recent half a century, becomes the unavoidable responsibility of TV art workers and theory researchers.The essay is divided into the following parts:IntroductionThis part is an overall discussion of the whole essay by illustrating briefly the significance of the creation of Shandong TV documentary works and defining some relative concepts.Oilu Culture and Shandong TV Documentary WorksIn this part, two elements—cultural element and technological element, which affect the creation of Shandong TV documentary work greatly, are expounded synthetically.TV art originates from life and is higher than life and it is the same with the documentary works. Qilu culture has formed its independent system and features over nearly one thousand of development. In the first section Shandong regional culture, which affects Shandong TV documentary works most deeply, is illustrated from the point of view of"one mountain, one river and one saint", which is most representative in Shandong Province. In the second section, the course of the development of Shandong broadcasting technology is presented.Development of Shandong TV ArtThe course of the development of Shandong TV documentary works, which is made up of the starting period in 1970s, the period of development in 1980s, the period of prosperity in 1990s and the period of exploration in the 21st century, is analyzed chronologically in this part. In each section the development of Shandong TV promulgation, the representative works of each period as well as the significance of these works in the whole course of development are analyzed in details.Clear Documentary StyleBy analyzing the natural and cultural background, the particular works, major originators, aesthetic style of Shandong TV documentary works, the author stresses the significance of Qilu culture in this part. And combined with particular examples, the clear documentary style of Shandong TV documentary works is illustrated from the above perspectives by emphasizing on the originators'experience and the process of creation.Culture Responsibility Borne by Qilu Documentary ArtBased on the above discussion, the culture responsibility borne by Shandong TV documentary art is presented in this part. With the analysis of two elements i.e. culture responsibility and civilization responsibility, the direction of the development of Shandong documentary art is also proposed.In all, over the recent half the century, Qilu culture has exerted a subtle influence on the development of Shandong documentary art. So to view the creation of documentary works from a wholly new perspective of regional culture and to count the relationship between them may indicate a new direction and method for originators.
