The period from the 20th to 30th of the 20th century is the time when Beijing SchoolFiction began to arise and flourished. The Characteristics of this School which deviatesfrom the mainstream (politicalization and socialization) discourse and seeks for pureliterariness of modern literature comes through the Beijing School writers' exploration ofthe creation of the novel style. The important Beijing School writers such as Fei Ming,Shen Congwen, Wang Zengqi, Lu Fen, Yu Pingbo, Xiao Qian, He Qingfang, Feng Zhi andso on mix the Chinese classical poetic art into the novel creation and creates a poeticlyrical narrative style of novel differing from the narrative styles of the Chinese classicalnovel and mainstream realistic literature. According to individual novels, the articlefocusing on language, image and artistic conception analyses how the Beijing SchoolFiction absorbs and transformations from classical poetic art.What the Beijing School Fiction transformation classical poetic art appeared in certainstage and background of theory: it was not only influenced by the theory of westernmodern novel but also edified by national lyrical tradition; meanwhile it is the result ofthe improvement of the novel status and the development of its art under the situation ofthe evolution of modern and near-modern Chinese society. In the Beijing School fictions,the seeking of Chinese classical poetic language for concise, defamiliarization, rhythmand cadence mixes with the modern vernacular together and creates a unique way ofexpression. While the essence of the classical poetic art——image and artistic conceptiontransformation into a pattern of space narrative in the Beijing School fictions andcompletes the unique lyrical narrative of the Beijing School: the stories in the BeijingSchool fictions does not develop according to time order, but narrates by designing theimage and setting the artistic conception, and than construct a self-sufficient space of text.What the Beijing School Fiction transformation classical poetic art demonstrates theconsciousness of aesthetic and culture. It plans to continue the tradition, mix the culturalresources in both West and China and heal the rift of culture. Although the transformationis still not very smoothly, but those good texts points out a development direction for us.The literature works which are aesthetic and keep up the tradition of the national literatureare not only literary but also cultural. What they said explain the past and contact now andthe future.
