The Book of Songs is the first poetry anthology in Chinese Literary History. Thereare rich and colorful female images in it, not only existing in the works by femalewriters, but also in the works by male writers. Analysis of the unique beauty ofthese feminie, the aim is at clearly knowing the esthetic feature of Zhou Dynasty,which is a important terms at the beginning of man's civilization, also at knowingwomen' existent condition and spiritual scene.About 40,000 characters in all, it will be divided into three chapters.The first chapter is the section of tracking to the source, which mainly discussesthe development of esthetic concept and female esthetic characteristic in the age ofPre-history, mainly in the New Stone Age. From the following four aspects: themeaning of the beauty, the good etc; the primeval female statues; the myth of ancienttimes and the primeval potteries, we can conclude that the women' beauty of the NewStone Age lies in the plentiful and substantial external form, the inherent spiritualpower full of creation and fighting and the serene and mild emotion etc. Thesecharacteristics have important fluency on later periods.From the second chapter, the article begins to discuss the characteristics of femalebeauty and esthetics in the age of the book of songs. This section mainly analyzes theimages of noble women in the some poems of Ya and Sacrificial Songs and the femaleviews of common women in The Book of Change. By them, we can conclude that thefemale esthetic characteristic in the beginning and age of Zhou Dynasty is the moralbeauty, which is a kind of female esthetic views of under the social mainstreamideology, and appears in a new background of age and social atmosphere.The third chapter is the focal point of this article. From the end of Zhou Dynastyto the middle period of Chunqiu, the female beauty and esthetics present open anddiversified feature, which can be well showed by the rich female images of theBallads. The female images in the poems by male writers reveal the male personsbegin to notice the female external charms. The combination of external charms andinherent beauty is their esthetics evaluative criterion to feminie. And the inherentbeauty has different meaning from external charms. The pomes by female writersdiffer from male writers' in the angle of depiction. On the way round, they ignorefemale exterior, but are absorbed in female hearts, and describe their true feelings tolife, such as the happiness, the anger, the grief, the pleasure. The first time the feminie is combined into poems in Chinese Literary History, which fully embodies the femalebeauty in poem and talent that the most important characteristics are full of true andthick affection, and owning outstanding foresight and sagacity. Therefore, the femaleimages by male writers supplement with the female images by female writers oneanother that wholly show the panorama of female beauty and esthetics in that time.
