| The goal lies in this thesis is to research into Xiao Hong (a unique female writer in modern China) from the angle of the history of Chinese contemporary literature, from the theory background of culture, philosophy, contemporary ethics and psychoanalysis.Bothered and harassed by loneliness and solitude, Xiao Hong still cherished the significance of life. And she preferred facing up to all difficulties of life to becoming a nihilist or a romanticist.Although the time of her creation is short, Self is the key word to the life and the works of Xiao Hong. Therefore, from the relationship between her sense of self and the soul of her works, the thesis tries to inquire into the personality of Xiao Hong and the main line of her works.
