Among western modern writers of 20th century, James Joyce is the one who famous for his language displacement and creation. In this article, the author reviewed Joyce's whole life, and cast back his invention courses. Combined with the culture surrounding at that time, the author analyzed and came to the conclusion of his creation in language displacement, esthetics and its influence in Bildungsroman. This article is based on the production of Chinese and oversea James Joyce's studies. There are three main points in this article: firstly, James Joyce enjoys anti-tradition viewpoint of language. From Joyce's point, the writer should point out the language itself, and make it be the center of reader's consciousness instead of the edge of the tool of expression. Language itself should be the independent aesthetic object and leave the content alone. Secondly, James Joyce brings the fundamental changes to the framework of traditional novels. He accomplished his goal of "integrity, harmony and sparkle" in 'portrait', and brings the truth rule into the aesthetic field. Thirdly, 'portrait' was the first Bildungsroman written by stream of consciousness in western literature history. Impressionism, symbolism, imago and interior monologue were been used by Joyce to lead the readers into the consciousness of the dramatis personae. Consistency of consciousness made up for the inconsistency of text. Thereby Joyce turned his theory into reality and pushes the modern literature greatly. This article combined analysis in language, framework, narrate style and influences in literature then came to the above conclusion.
