This article attempts to analyze why Yang Jang intended to write the novel 'Take a bath' on the same theme over 40 years after her husband wrote the novel 'Besieged City'. After the comparison, we discover 'Take a bath' and 'Besieged City' are both to expose certain intellectuals' ugly characteristics. However, time vicissitude, author's rich experience contributed to the deeper thinking and understanding of the topic regarding intellectuals' characteristics. We may also discover Yang Jang's 'Take a bath' not only emphasized the necessity of intellectuals' transform but also promoted the viewpoint that the intellectuals could never live beyond spiritual boundary unless they purify themselves. Yang Jang also expressed her opinion on intellectuals' value and manner. In the comparison of the two novels, we also note how the writer's different understanding of things in different ages influenced the subject of the novel.
