In this dissertation I focused on the characteristics of court and folk singing-and-dancing in Qing Dynasty. I tried to clear up the development of singing-and-dancing art of Qing Dynasty by giving an analysis on the development and characteristics to each of the two types; furthermore, I put the whole cultural and historical background into the analysis, and tried to show how these macro-based factors influence the art of singing and dancing. I firstly gave detailed introduction to the above-mentioned two types, including their developments and their artistic characteristics. Then I considered the relationship of them. There are various differences between them, which include ornamental factors, standardization, content, and the treatments they received in the dynasty. I discussed the general and time-based reasons of all these differences, and augured that the cultural and historical factors did matter on the singing-and-dancing art of the dynasty. On the other hand, there was a co-existence state of the two types of art in the court. I discussed the reasons of this state, too. In short, I tried to set my eye not only on the singing-and-dancing art itself, but the macro factors such as culture and history behind it, so that my research could get some depth in this topic. |
