On Hamlet's Motivation

Since the birth of Hamlet,the great artistic character that full of attractive fascination,the study about its motivation of delaying on revenge never break off.Up to the present there are several kinds of points as follow:flaccidness;being controlled by circumstances;thoughtfulness,lacking of belief;Oedipus complex.But this essay thinks that it is the nicety in Hamlet's heart and the lovely and yearning of the life that causes Hamlet's delaying.The analysis to the development of Hamlet's motivation tells us that the complexity of drama motivation firstly is almost every motion is the interaction of the rational and irrational factors.The character who lacks of ration must be short of social attribute;and lacks of irration must be short of life attribute.So the interaction of the ration and irration forms a perfect character.Some factors effect the motivation of character as follows:times and zone;life status;life style;theory;family,affiliate with;learning and culture,etc.These elements intertexture in character's mind from different direction and sides,and this lead to the complex and particular motivation of Hamlet.Opposition,difference and interaction of the motivation of Hamlet,Crodix,the Queen and the others are the mine of the drama conflict and suspense.On Hamlet's vengeance way,there are three men want to revenge for their fathers, but only Hamlet is full of confliction.And just Hamlet's revenge,the different interpretations to Hamlet's motivation make countless Hamlet character,and the topic of the play book----the idea and moral value embodied in Hamlet's motivation.Consequently,this is the motivation of drama:in drama,it is a general mind process including rational and irrational factors;it is the resource of drama conflict and suspense;it is a whole system embodied personality of character,contained the idea of the book and included the writer's moral value.Therefore,the motivation of Hamlet shows us the fascination of the role Hamlet rests with reflection of general humanity and deep opening out the part's motivation.
