Study On Metaphor Thinking's Mechanism In The View Of Modern Writingology

Metaphor is not only a language phenonmenon, but also a thinking one,summarized by American contemporary linguist Lakoff. In writing, people often use metaphor intentionally or unintentionally. About metaphor, there are several research questions as follows: How does metaphor make? What is the intrinsic relation between metaphor and thinking? What is the intrinsic mechanism of metaphor? But at present, there was very finite research about these. As the essence of writing action, writing thought can answer above questions well in the new viewpoint. Writing thought expatiates the essence of writing action primarily from frontal and reversed angles. We suggest that writing thought also can expatiate the making essence of metaphor to understand and create metaphor well, fartherly we can develope the study how to make metaphor. It can not only offer a new angle to the metaphor research, but also contribute to use metaphor consciously in our writing.In the first half part of paper, at the basic of reviewing the present reseach of metaphor thought, we study metaphor in the angle of similar thought. To break through former standards of metaphor classification, this paper classified metaphor in detail by using similar thought. Also we unscramble the formation track of metaphor in article's different levels to benefit writing practice.It is an indisputable fact that metaphor can make article more beautiful. I often immerse into the sentences and literary works which made by metaphor, and always think these two questions: where the beauty of metaphor come from?What is the intrinsic power and mechanism of metaphor formation? The key is writer's pursuing to space-time esthetics. Second half part, using the beauty of space-time, this paper researched into the drive mechanism of metaphor. It emphasize four"pursuing": pursuing the infinite space, the beauty of freedom; pursuing livingness, the beauty of life; pursuing speed, the beauty of time; pursuing innovation, the beauty of freshness.The research on metaphor began in 1980s, almost synchronization with Modern Writingology..Out of question, metaphor exists anywhere in people's writing. Applying Modern Writingology's findings (such as writing thought and space-time esthetics )to metaphor's reseach, or take metaphor's reseach findings in the service of writing thought, both must bring out the best in each other.
