The rapidly developing informational epoch requires that people must keep a lifelong education and possess learners'autonomy (LA) which is independent of the instruction of teachers and classes. Therefore, education, including foreign language education, must foster the learners'autonomy for the needs of lifelong education.Resent researches mainly discuss LA theory and correlation between LA and motivation, attitude, or learning style, but seldom researches discuss LA based on analysis of learners'personality factors. With an attempt to fill up such a research gap, this thesis mainly examines the influence of extraversion/ introversion and volition on LA. A comprehensive questionnaire is adopted, and the data are analyzed by SPSS. The research results show that the students'English learning autonomy stays at a low level, and there is no correlation between LA and personality tendencies, but volition has influence on LA. Based on the results, some tentative suggestions on developing LA are provided, which might be beneficial for the promotion of LA among Chinese students.
