On Human Nature Reflected In Contemporary Military Fictions

In the 50 years' literary development history since the foundation of People' Republic of China, military fictions take its prominent status and affect the development and change of the whole contemporary literary world. Since the foundation of People' Republic of China, military fictions go through different development stages and grow into maturity gradually from its childhood. Military force is an important part of national political system, therefore military fictions are inevitably written for the purpose of mainly reflecting national mainstream ideology. At the beginning of the new china, military fictions only put their attention on soldiers as a whole and neglect individuals to achieve their purpose of disseminating and instructing the masses. Since 1980s, the above-mentioned convention was changed. More and more military fiction writers began to write solders as individuals and write about their mundane lives, to reflect the social development and the multi-sides, abundance and complexity of human nature by describing the change of happiness and sorrows of soldiers, shaped numerous vivid and unique characters and is presented the multi-directional, multi-dimensional, solid, human, and real soldiers in front of us.This paper chooses human nature writing as the important viewpoint and specific perspective to talk about military fictions that were written after the foundation of the People 's Republic of China and emphases on the description and delivery of the connotation of human nature. This paper presents the human nature reflected in the contemporary military fictions in the following four parts:Chapter one: This part describes the human nature reflected in contemporary military fictions from the history perspective. The development of contemporary military fictions can be divided into four periods in accordance with their features: contemporary military fictions in 1950s and 1960s, contemporary military fictions in Cultural Revolution periods, contemporary military fictions in new era and contemporary military fictions after 1990s.Chapter two: This part analyzes the human nature from the point of character images in contemporary military fictions. The character images are discussed from two periods: Revolutionary War Periods and Peace Periods.Chapter three: This part synthetically studies the connotation of human nature reflected in contemporary military fictions from the following five aspects: the loss and the pursue of ideals, the conflict between the disappearance and irony of heroes and their profession and mission, the spiritual world under the temptation from the society and the pressure of survival, the conflict between the strict military system and discipline and the human nature, marital life of soldiers and the helplessness of their love and individual mental state in military camp.Chapter four: This part analyzes the acceptation research on military fictions from the two aspects: the selection of topics and the shape of character images.
