Study On Application Of Mokume-Gane Metal Techniques In Modern Jewelry Design Of China

Mokumn-Gane metal technology originates from the Japan of 17 century, which was firstly used in the cutter fittings. Bacause of the rising of guild system, the perdition of the warrior class and the the complexity of this metal technology, Mokumn-Gane metal technology gradually blanked out in Japan. However, it causes the much attention of Western academics ,who make the Mokumn-Gane metal technology shinning in the metal decoration industray in the western.Mokumn-Gane metal technolog has been developed only decades in the western countries, and have reached advanced technolog levels. It can be used in machining of jewelry in the western. However, Mokumn-Gane metal technolog is a little-known technolog in our country. So, great gaps exist between our applying and design ability and the western countries.The author analyse the materials and the technology of the mokume-gane firstly, and mean to introduce it into jewelry industry of China. What's more, on the basic of this special metal technology ,the author try to mix it with the tradiontion design elements and modern design factors,which may contribute to our jewelry design industry. Therefore, as a Chinese designer, how to arouse and develop it, and how to form a Chinese navative style, are exetremly hard task.The paper contains four parts. Part one will draw forth the title of this paper, by concluding the historial development of the mokume-gane, and analysing close relationship of it with social&cultural environment of Japan and the important role in modern jewelry industry of European and American countries.Part two through explaining the surroundings of modern circumstances, discusses the possibility of living method about the mokume-gane technique under the modem language.Part three, firstly, compares the development and current situation of Chinese modern jewelry design by analysing the relationship between traditional craft and modern design. Then, this part that links with the practical works of writer will further explore the amalgamative method betweeen mokume-gane metal technology and the Chinese traditional technique and modern jewelry design.Part four, as the conclusion, will summarily consider about this whole researgh topic, and mention the prospective idea for the future.Following the historical development of traditional thejapanese traditional mokume-gane technique, this paper, through the contents gradually openning will sum up the factors why mokume-gane technique, is still splendid even past thousands of years.Furthermore, this paper leads to the progressive method of this craft under the modern language.
