The concepts of the family values reflected in the novels by Charles Dickens has been, quite unfortunately overlooked or neglected in many ways, although researches on him in other perspectives is fairly fruitful, hence a disproportion and asymmetry. It would be of tremendous significance to be aware of, and attentive to, this, upon which come particular and meticulous investigations and explorations, as our novelist has, to a large extend, slipped his humanitarian ideology into such categories as family, love, sexuality and humanity, etc., as to touch the structure of interpersonal and socio-political relations, thus unfolding the landscape of the history and reality and even endeavouring to give a preview of the future.. Characteristic is this thesis of concentrating on such a topic, particularly so against such a pale backdrop as depicted above. Offered by the authoress is an analytical overview of his concept in question per se, and, far more importantly, fairly sound arguments based on textual studies and the close reading of those literary works, that Dickens'concept of such is visualized and the theorization of the authoress affirmed.Equally, if not more, worth of the authoress'own appreciation is this typological essay, in which patterns of marriage and types of family are drawn and phenomena, of diversity and in variety, complex and complicated, categorized.
